I think that this guy may be running a company called zeroservers now. We got a post on our clan website for zeroservers. The info on their site looks a lot like VSK.

Well ;/ ?

Hi guys, VSK and Zeroservers are two seperate companies. They are not related in anyway. In matter of fact, they are competitors. Both our DiiTrOn servers are from ZeroServers and I guarantee that if you purchase from they, you will get great service.
I know this, because I designed their site and I know Spinfactor for long time now.
Zeroservers is not VSK AND IS NOT RELATED IN ANYWAY AND ITS NOT THE ANOTHER DIVSION OF VSK LOL

i've made several attempts to contact zeroservers to rent a server and still haven't gotten a response. this has been over the course of several months. considering sales responses are generally 5 times quicker than support responses, i got a little frightened at the fact that i couldn't even get them to take my money. ended up at mammothgames. if anyone here ends up at zeroservers and experiences good service, let me know. i may need another server. until then, i have to rate zeroserver's customer support at the same level of VSK, related or not.

Write a proper terms of service page so people don't think you have anything to do with VSK ;) .

I don't think spanky was looking for a demo server.... but with all do respect to zeroservers, Fragism is the *only* hosting choice for UT Demo. While you do pay an outrageous $5 per player, you get a solid Linux kernel that Demo runs smoothly on. Epic fixed the ping problem experienced on windows 2000 and up only on the FV in version 425.

certain other people who will rename nameless used to believe all you have to do is throw more hardware and a fatter bandwidth pipe at demo and it fixes the problem. no sir, it does not. "ping of death" as coined by epic themselves is a real problem that will never be fixed in demo.

well, i decided to give zeroservers a try for a tacops server. so far, not so good.

after putting in a support ticket to inquire about setup time, i received the following response within a couple of hours.

Date: 04/20/2005
Status: Open
Department: Game Server
205.218.65.70

Avg setup time is usually within 24hrs maximum being 48 hrs

You have 48 hours after receipt of server to decide if you like it for refund

Setup fees are non refundable

Sounds good to me, so I place an order and receive confirmation that money has been transferred.

This email confirms that you have paid ZeroServers (billing@zeroservers.net) $75.00 USD using PayPal.

This credit card transaction will appear on your bill as "PAYPAL *ZEROSERVERS".

It's been over the "maximum" amount of time that their support staff insured me for setup, and still no server. Now, that in itself is not too much of a big deal. It's not the best way to start a business relationship, but perhaps they had a flood of orders to deal with. I'm certainly willing to give people the benefit of the doubt in most cases.

However, as soon as they received my money, I can't get anyone from support to reply to my inquiries. This, in my book, is cause for concern. Strange that they were on top of replying to me BEFORE they got my money and now I can't get them to give me the time of day.

I'm sure there's a logical explanation and perhaps everything will be squared away before the day is done. At this point, I'd have to rate ZeroServers down there with VSK and can't recommend them as a viable game server provider until i at least hear from someone. For better or for worse, I'll post what transpires. Believe me, I'd prefer eating crow on this one than being right about my current assessment.

Thats a shame Spanky.

Not that you should *have* to, but did you try posting in their forum and maybe attract the attention of someone over there?

Good Luck!
